Thank you for the article

Thank you for the article links - and for your great comments on the Unwound entry. I'm applying to be a peer mentor for LIBR 203 after this class, and I hope that if selected I can not only assist those new to social software with the technological aspect - but more importantly be a welcoming advocate. Online learning in LIS education is definitely what you make of it, just as it is for F2F courses.

I hope that those who close-mindedly state they would hire a LIS graduate from an on-campus program over a distance learner will soon learn to get over their bias and one day realize that the true merit of a candidate comes not from the name or location of the university, but rather in examining the scope of the graduate's studies, new ideas for the profession, and examples of their work (via the e-portfolio or thesis).

BTW, yes, I keep coming back here out of habit! :)

Yes, Thank you Meredith for

Yes, Thank you Meredith for the articles. I thought the Will unwound article made a very good point about the future of MLIS being online if other schools want to be competitive with SJSU. I was not aware of the fact that SJSU MLIS program is only offered online. That is pretty amazing. I was very surprised by the heated debate going on in the comments section, that makes me more aware of the obstacles I will be facing when I begin the job search. I feel that my online learning experience has been filled with very rich experiences that would not be possible in a traditional classroom setting, specifically with providing me with feeling comfortable exploring new technologies and creating my own works online. Without the online program at SJSU I would not have had the opportunity to study in the LIS field because there is not an ALA accredited program offered in Bakersfield.

I too am suffering LIBR246 withdrawals..
