Social Software: getting buy-in, viral marketing

I have a couple of resources this week:

The first is about getting buy-in from your organization for adoption of social software. Ten Common Objections to Social Media Adoption and How You Can Respond from ReadWriteWeb supplies a list of ten objections to social media tools with replies and concessions you can offer to those objections.

The second is about viral marketing. It goes a little further afield but is nevertheless relevant to the job of creatively marketing a library using social software. The book Fans, Friends, and Followers is about how creative people such as artists, writers, and musicians are marketing themselves and building followings without the involvement of the media companies that have traditionally been the gatekeepers for those fields. It's becoming more common for creative people to market themselves using social media. This book providest case studies of creative people like singer/song writer Jonathan Coulton, who have achieved success in this way.
