Going to ALA?
Are you going to ALA? I am! I'm covering the exhibit hall for American Libraries and so will be "on the job" for much of the time. However, I'll be on the LITA Top Technology Trends panel on Sunday June 29th from 1:30 pm -3:00 pm. This is always a great and well-attended panel discussion about technology trends on the horizon that may impact the library profession (be sure to arrive early so you don't end up sitting on the floor). If you're going to be there, please come and introduce yourself. I'd love to meet you!
That evening SLIS is having a reception from 6-8pm. I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to make it to this since that's usually when the OCLC Bloggers Salon is going on, but I'll definitely try to get there. This is a great opportunity to meet some of your classmates in person.
ALA conferences can be huge and overwhelming, but they can also be an amazing opportunity for networking and learning. My one tip is to plan out what you want to do beforehand, but also be willing to chuck it all for any great social opportunities that may arise. Most of all, have fun!
