Podcasting
I think my library might be particularly resistant to podcasting. Although we are quite progressive with some issues in other cases we simply lag behind the times.
The problem might have to do more with actually portioning out the work and making it appear "academic" more than anything else. For the most part I am a big proponent of making the academic library more than simply a place to do hardcore research. I think we need to reach out generally to the population by providing information and services that might not be exactly suited to what they are studying, but draw them in so they will study and use us when they need to. Some efforts in this direction might include entertainment level dvds or audiobooks and offerings such as podcasts. While I think it might be worthwhile to do podcasts on how to do research or use certain databases, my first podcast at our library might be something of more general interest. A review of recently recieved dvds might be a fun way to get our students interested in the service. Mentioning its score on RottenTomatoes as well as a summary from Netflix might be a good way to capture interest and refer to trusted sources of info.
Knowing me I would also probably attempt to throw a little intersting music in there that might compliment the film in some way.
