Reflections
Although I was familiar with much of the information presented in the chapter, the links to different products was great! I found a ton of stuff there that I had not seen before and was particularly impressed with dimdim. My supervisor had been asking me if I knew any products like that a few months ago and had honestly not seem something that fully featured and FREE!
The AIM widget was also pretty cool as we use AIM for IM right now and although I have encountered some resistance to the idea of using meebo on our site, the AIM widget makes use of something we are already familiar with which should break down some walls.
One thing that I did not write about in my "vs." post was that I found the meebo chat window much too small. Although it would be fine for ordinary chat, I think a larger window that displayed more text would be really useful. The question I asked the librarian got cut off and she answered only part of the question, through no fault of her own. Scrolling up was kind of a pain too.
Not too sure on SMS reference either. Although I can see it being usefull for small things it sure seems like an easy way to make mobile companies more money to me.
