Libraries should strongly consider blogs to take advantage of this powerful tool. As the lecture this week explaines, it is a wonderful way to get feedback, show the public that their opinions are valued, and keep people up to date with evenI think two big things libraries need to consider when they blog are negative comments and regular postings. Libraries should be prepared to take the constructive feedback and show the public that they act on it. I support modifying foul language, but beyond that, let it rip.
I learned that while everyone can easily start a blog through various free services, not everyone can have a successful blog. There are a lot of considerations before starting one and our lecture, guest speakers and readings this week discussed many them. I liked the following tips the most:
