Virtual Reference Service: It is just the beginning

What do you think are the most important features any virtual reference service should have?

There are three things a virtual reference service should have to be effective.

The first is a good reference librarian. If you have a mediocre reference librarian, no matter what you else you have for virtual services will only be mediocre. Technology can only enhance, you still need a good base to provide good service. I think that is forgotten sometimes.

Web 2.0 Still a No-go

This is a good article in the ABA Journal about now 2.0 movement has not caught on in the law field. Which is somewhat true, but there are some many good blogs about lawyers (Public Defender Dude), it makes me wonder if the Law 2.0 is just lagging a bit back...

Much like anything legal related the wheels of justice do move, just slowly...

Five years ago I joined a company that works with kids in an afterschool tutoring format.  The kids are from all over the country, and they access their lessons online.  The lessons are tailored for each student, to work on their weak subjects.  Each student has a coach that he/she emails every session.  The coach and student talk about academics, but also anything else the student feels like writing about.  The coach is able to motivate and befriend the student without ever meeting them face to face.  For the past three years I've been working in a supervisory position leading a team of co
