LIBR 246-12: Web 2.0 and Social Networking Tools (Fall 2008)

On Thursday at 6:30 pm PT, we will have our very last Elluminate session in which each group will present their project to the class. Please be sure to follow these instructions when planning for your presentation (these can also be found on the Final Project instructions page):

This is to let everyone know that I attended Mary Ellen’s Elluminate training session this morning and she was terrific. I became familiar with some of the applications I never used like sharing moderator privileges, taking over a classmate’s desk top, (Shawn took over mine which was scary!), and she even stayed later to teach me how to do a Web Tour. I highly recommend to make the time to take the tutorial.

I just heard from Mary Ellen about the dates and times for the Advanced Elluminate sessions:

Our intrepid Elluminate assistant, Mary Ellen, emailed me today to ask if any of you would be interested in participating in advanced training using Elluminate, covering things like application sharing, web tours, uploading power point slides, etc. These are things you'll need to do for your final project presentations, so it might be useful to take advantage of this kind offer. If you're interested, just respond to this post or email me.

As you probably know, this Thursday evening we will be having our third live Elluminate session from 6:30 – 8:00 pm PT. I have posted the access URL and password in the forum Elluminate Info and Lecture Links. This week, we will have two terrific guest speakers who are going to discuss podcasting and virtual reference with you.They are both well-known experts on these topics and speak frequently about them.

This Thursday at 6:30 pm PT/9:30 pm ET, we will be having our next Elluminate session with two absolutely fantastic guest speakers who you should definitely recognize from your readings.

Each one of our Elluminate sessions will be recorded in case you want to watch the presentations again later on. Thursday's session is now available in the forums under Recorded Elluminate Sessions, and any future sessions will be posted on that same page.

Just remember that tonight at 6:30 PT/9:30 ET we will be having our first Elluminate session with guest speakers Stephen Francoeur and Nanette Donohue. The access instructions are available here. Please let me know if you have any questions before the session.
