Here is another follow-up on this. Social networking and 2.0 has come along way.
Also if you look at 2000 election coverage and 2008, look at the use of technology and how it different. In 2000 it could have been 1972, but last night that had touch screen with up-date voter info.
Very impressive.
It is funny. When I first heard of delicious is was a way for you to take your bookmarks from one computer to the next. Moreover, it has evolved so much since then. A mean it is almost, if not communal on how it is today. People are tagging with each other, building groups, sharing websites. Even libraries are using social bookmarks as if not an alternative, at the very least a supplement to the catalog.
As I mentioned in my introduction, my library director had the staff take an Infopeople workshop on Web 2.0 taught by Meredith last fall. It was a great class, and I learned a lot. It came at a good time because I had recently started a blog for the circulation department that I work in. (I just checked, and I started the blog in February 2007.) It has been a great tool for communicating information to our staff. Last fall, we hired a new circ librarian who is also in charge of emerging technologies. He embraced the blog and uses it frequently.
