On Thursday at 6:30 pm PT, we will have our very last Elluminate session in which each group will present their project to the class. Please be sure to follow these instructions when planning for your presentation (these can also be found on the Final Project instructions page):
Presentation: Your presentation can include slides, a live demo of your prototype/working model or whatever your group feels it needs to get its point across. It must be 8 minutes-long and it must be presented as if your audience knows little about social software and needs to be convinced that your idea is good. You can assume in the presentation that they know the basic definitions (what a blog is, what a wiki is, etc.), but they have not used them nor thought of how they could be used in libraries.
Your presentation will take place on December 4th in our final Elluminate session. There will be four minutes for questions after your presentation.
On Thursday, I won't go in any specific order in terms of which group presents first. I'll just take volunteers. If no one volunteers, Group 1 will go first, followed by Group 2, etc.
If you have any questions about the presentation (or other aspects of the group project), please email me or comment on this post. If you have specific questions about Elluminate, contact our Elluminate assistant, Mary Ellen. I can't wait to see what you've come up with!

For planning purposes: Is it better to be a little long or a little short?
In real life, I would say short. In academic settings I would say a little long (say 7:30 vs 8:30)?
Just your thoughts as we all finish up.
Do you mean how long your
Do you mean how long your presentation is? I think it largely depends on the situation. When you're in a situation where other people have to present after you, you want to make sure you give them enough time to do what they need to do. I've been on panels where people have gone over their time and I ended up with almost no time to speak at the end. I'm pretty obsessive about being on time when I know other people have to speak. In our case though, there should be plenty of time since we only have three groups and close to an hour and a half to accomplish everything. I'd try to get as close to the required time as possible if you can, but there is some flexibility and it's better to be complete and thorough in this situation than to cut things out.

Looking forward to 'seeing' you all on Thursday.
