This is to let everyone know that I attended Mary Ellen’s Elluminate training session this morning and she was terrific. I became familiar with some of the applications I never used like sharing moderator privileges, taking over a classmate’s desk top, (Shawn took over mine which was scary!), and she even stayed later to teach me how to do a Web Tour. I highly recommend to make the time to take the tutorial.
Elluminate is a pretty cool
Elluminate is a pretty cool collaborative software in its own right. I much prefer it over the Microsoft Live meeting software from some of my other classes. They make you call in on the phone and you hear everyones pets and kids. The VOIP is the way to go these days.
Big shout-out to Mary Ellen
Big shout-out to Mary Ellen !
She did a very good very job at explaining a new and complex software that it both easy to understand and at the same time taking advantage of the usefulness of the software.
Fantastic! I'm so glad to
Fantastic! I'm so glad to hear the training went well! I can't wait to see what fancy things you can do with Elluminate in your presentations -- I bet I'll learn a lot!
Wow! Thanks for all the
Wow! Thanks for all the great compliments. I'm glad that you enjoyed the class. It was really fun to teach. It's a really great feeling being able to show people how to use tools that allow them to collaborate. And you can bet that I learned a ton while I was teaching this class. There's always a few more things to learn.
This is a great tool that is being used more and more by students. I'm the monitor this week for the Elluminate group meeting e-mail-box, and we're getting 8 to 10 requests every day from students who want to meet. Being able to speak in a group makes a huge difference in being able to work effectively together. Next semester the school is planning on upgrading to the next version of Elluminate (9.0) which is a little bit better, a little bit faster and it allows up to 6 video streams at a time (the current version only allows one). So in a small group, you could see everyone's face at once.
Mary, I appreciate your
