I think my favorite podcast site for the library examples is the Sunnyvale Public library. There were interesting topics and provocative summaries of the podcasts. I really liked the recording of events that a patron may have missed. Recording them can show future visitors what events are like and drive people to them going foward. Layout was nice and I could find what I needed. I wanted to pick Seattle's library for its interesting content, but the podcasts were way to long for me. many over 1 hour! No way I am still for that long, my communute is only 30 min., but it may work for others. Seeing these sites helps me decide how long to make them and how to use them effectivly to promote the library programs.
Podcasting events seems like
Podcasting events seems like one of the smartest things a library can do. Making an original podcast can be time-consuming, but with events, you just record it and put it up online. For people who use the library but have never attended events (or who don't use the library at all) this is a great marketing tool -- giving them a good idea of what to expect at such events. Having multimedia on the library website makes the site more reflective of the vibrant atmosphere in just about every public library.
Podcasts can also be a great
Podcasts can also be a great way to promote and market upcoming library programs and events and therefore attract patrons. I never realize how well this medium compliments text and visual images, but I agree they should be concise to be effective.
