LIBR 246-12: Web 2.0 and Social Networking Tools (Fall 2008)

        This blog by Michael Stephens talked about IM reference. Contributors also shared their experience about this tool.  Text a librarian is a service being used at Yale University, Kline Science Library.  According to Joe Murphy, General Science Librarian & Instruction Coordinator, they use Apple Iphone allowing them to provide IM, phone and e-mail reference service. 

         Contributors also discussed the many advantage of IM reference, its trends according to  PEW, tips on how to add IM to library services,  IM reference resources, and different examples of  IM reference promo materials from Yale University libraries and Saint Joseph County Public Library. It's interesting to see that SJCPL websites’ provide instructions for using the service.
