RSS is more than just a computer language. Netscape developed it in 1999. I find it ironic that first Netscape makes a giant step in web browser (web 1.0), it then designs the foundation for Web 2.0. Where is Netscape today
It is something that really makes the web come alive. It looks the static web, and helped create the whole Web 2.0 which in turn gave us Library 2.0
Rather than static web pages, RSS allows web developers to push information. And it allows the end user to get real time updates and choose exactly what information they want and what information they do not want to receive.
RSS will be to the Internet what Ford did for automobiles. It will allow everyone on the web, and allow for others in the field to take the idea and create and recreate it to their own needs.
What amazes me is still how
What amazes me is still how few people know about RSS. Lots of people actually use it through personalized home pages like My Yahoo!, but if you mentioned the term RSS to them, it would be a totally foreign concept. Had I guessed four years ago, I would have thought everyone would know about RSS by now, but surprisingly, most don't.
