Proposal
almost one year
Submitted by jerdman2 on Tue, 2008-02-26 14:54.It is almost one year since we took this course and I ALMOST have all of my proposal implemented. There were elements that were super easy, some that took longer than expected, and ones that may never truely get off the ground. But I know I have made changes to this library, for the better!

Submitted by dsalo on Tue, 2007-09-11 19:45.Hi, Five Weeks,
I'm trying to knock out my poster for ASIST, and one thing that would help me is a few screenshots! So if you've got a weblog or wiki or other screenshot-able site I could feature, please comment here or drop me an email at dorothea AT textartisan DOT com.
Also, I know a few of you have been training others. That's a phenomenal outcome, and I want to highlight it. If I just described you, please drop me a line and tell me about it.
Thanks!

Josalyn Gervasio's wiki
Submitted by dellbayer on Tue, 2007-03-20 16:53.I want to congratulate Josalyn for her proposal and the (already created!) wiki about her library's 50th anniversay. Both the proposal and the wiki itself are interesting and exciting to look at. And obvioulsy the wiki will be very useful as your library will have a very busy time for the next few months. I was not able to post these comments directly to your proposal page, but I hope, Josalyn, you will see them here!

Resource Discovery to Resource Creation: a mashup
Submitted by tamaracameron on Tue, 2007-03-13 19:57.Sorry for being a wee bit late: life has intervened. I have benefitted from seeing how other people have formatted their proposals. I was particularly impressed with the use of the wiki to format the proposal--so I copied it! I also had the bright idea to use a wiki with RSS and tags. I am not completely sure if my RSS is working properly...sometimes I find that my del.icio.us tags don't all load.
My main concept is resource discovery, and sharing of community created resources.
My proposal can be viewed here.
My Final Proposal - Summer Reading Blog
Submitted by janellejarboe on Tue, 2007-03-13 04:11.Name of Technology and Explanation:
I would like to implement a blog or weblog. A blog or weblog s a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order. (taken from wikipedia)
Explanation of this service and how it will fit into our library system:
I work for the Southwest Kansas Library. We serve several public and school libraries in the SW Kansas area. Our patrons are actually staff members at these libraries. Every summer most of our public libraries participate in Summer Reading programs. This is the busiest time throughout the year for most of our libraries. Our libraries are very good at sharing ideas with one another, usually this is done through our email list. I think a blog would be perfect for this idea sharing. Libraries wouldn't have to send or save emails, instead they could just go to our blog and share their ideas or see what other libraries have shared. This would be a service to our libraries and help out our staff quite a bit, too.
My Proposal: Room to Play
Submitted by alisiawygant on Tue, 2007-03-13 04:07.Well, Squeaking in at 3 minutes till midnight (Eastern time with daylight savings), my final project is on the wiki.
I went through a lot of territory--using del.icio.us at the reference desk, giving our internal wiki or flagging reference blog a boost with all the new information I've learned here, creating a reference chat model with meebo... But finally I realized that what I really would like to do is to share all of this social goodness with the other people in the library. I was finally convinced last week when, during a strategic planning meeting someone said, "Slow down, we're talking about how important all these things are, and a lot of these terms I've never heard before today!" It's very true--I'm all for pushing the limits of what we can do in libraries with social software, but for now, I'd be content with letting more people get a chance to play in the sandbox and learn about the fundamentals of the "2.0 revolution" that we all seem to agree is important to libraries and their users. So, using what we've got, I'm trying for a sort of emerging-technologies-group lite relying on a wiki to take up some of the strain of our small and hard-working staff.

Reference blog!
Submitted by jessicalanglois on Tue, 2007-03-13 00:18.For my final project, I propose starting a blog using Blogger from Google. I like this program because it’s easy to use, has a lot of handy features, and has a nice appearance. For instance, there are access controls so the owner can determine who is allowed to access the blog and who is allowed to post to it. The templates allow for a customized appearance, and it’s easy to add permanent or temporary links as well as photos. Because the whole thing is done online, the owner can access their blog from any computer and make updates easily.
