Introductory Content is all up!

All of the introductory content for the course is now linked from the Introduction page so if you haven't already started, you may want to get going on the screencasts, activities and more. We expect that you will be finished with all of this by the first week of class. I created an introductory screencast for the course that offers information about using Drupal and the wiki as well as what you will be expected to do each week. I noticed that the timing is a little off with some of the video (depending on the speed of your Internet connection) but hopefully you'll get the gist of things. :) Also, we now have a terrific screencast on blogging from Helene Blowers of the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenberg County. I'd love to hear your impressions on what she is discussing in this screencast.

We have added chat room functionality to the site. We are still experimenting with this and aren't 100% sure if we will be using this or regular IM for the weekly chats. Either way, we will want each of you to have an account with AIM and an IM client, just in case the chat functionality on the site doesn't work. You can actually go in and play around in the chat room right now. If you're logged in, just click on chat room and you should be able to get right into it.

Also, if you haven't already, don't forget to sign up for the weekly group chat. At this point, the only time slots available are Tuesday at 8:15 pm and Thursday at 8:00 pm.

Speaking of the chats, if any of you who is signed up for a daytime chat would be willing to switch to a night-time chat, Rita Ennen would be ever so grateful. She has little ones and therefore needs a daytime chat.

I've been thrilled to see people commenting on other people's blog posts! Well done! The best way to learn in this program is to share ideas with your fellow participants. Just a reminder, if you are logged in when you comment, your username will show up with your comment. If not, your comment will say it's from "anonymous" and you will have to sign your name. So please do consider signing in before commenting.

We look forward to working with all of you. Again, if you do have any questions, please comment on our posts or e-mail us at sociallibrary@gmail.com.
