Greetings from Wisconsin's "west coast"

Speaking to you from the banks of the mighty Mississippi, this is Kelly Krieg-Sigman, director of the La Crosse Public Library in La Crosse, WI.  I have been a director since 1985; La Crosse is my third directorship.  I applied for this course primarily to improve my understanding of social software and to become better informed as to its potential application to public library service.  My organization currently offers IM reference; we have a Flickr and MySpace account, and we are working towards a more active role in blogs, both internal and external.  When I'm not driving the City Council nuts, I volunteer time with the county historical society by doing an historic portrayal of a famous "Madam" from La Crosse history.  Her name is Frankie LaSalle and you might get a chance to meet her over the run of this course.  Favorites include:  Martin Scorsese films, kayaking, and a good bottle of merlot.

Wine and Cheese

I like a nice Sauvignon Blanc myself, though I will take rum or scotch any day! With some nice cheese from Wisconsin of course.

Kelly! You can run (or

Kelly! You can run (or skate, or sled), but you can't hide, my friend. I send you greetings from library school, where I'm on the verge of combusting, ballooning, imploding and graduating in May. Your dedication and enthusiasm for public libraries continue to inspire. Be well...
