Keeping Five Weeks Alive
Watching the course end is a very bittersweet thing. This has been an incredible experience, and I've been blown away to see how much collaboration has gone on within all of your blogs. As you continue on and start implementing some of these social software tools, you may have even more need of a space to reflect on ideas and get feedback from your peers. Why not do it here?
Yesterday, I discussed the idea with my group of keeping the blogs open for you to continue sharing ideas and progress reports on your social software projects. My group seemed very interested in the idea. Drupal and the wiki are living on the server my husband and I run. We both feel like it would be a silly thing to just close this up when an incredible community has formed around it.
What I will probably do is close the community to comments from anyone who does not have an account so that I will not have to check for spam as carefully as I did during the course. Everyone who currently has a participant or presenter account can post and comment on the posts. I will probably leave everything else the way it is unless the chat tool starts doing something weird to the server or something like that.
So please do feel free to continue posting your thoughts, ideas, articles you've found, questions you have, etc. to this space. Hopefully we'll get a good group of people who want to continue on here and make this a thriving community where we can share our progress.
Either way, I plan to contact each and every one of you in a few months to see how things are going with your social software projects and to get any additional thoughts you may have about the course. It'll be interesting to see what an impact this course has had in one week, three months, two years, etc. on you and your libraries.
Thank you all so much for participating in Five Weeks to a Social Library! I have so enjoyed working with you and reading your insightful comments on the blogs. :)

Meredith,
I would really appreciate this! I intend to explore the tools in greater depth and would like to stay connected to the other participants through the blog. Thanks for offering to keep it open! It has only just begun...

Meredith, This would be
Meredith,
This would be great! I would appreciate being able to continue to collaborate with my fellow participants and use the Five Weeks resources (including, hopefully, the moderators) for assistance in implementing my proposal. I'm sure that during the implementation process questions will come up through the process itself and from my colleagues that I won't be able to answer readily.
Thank you and the other moderators for sharing your knowledge and time with us throughout the course. Thanks also to you and your husband for being so generous with your server space. I've enjoyed the experience so much and have learned quite a bit.
