We were listening to the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show when my husband's jaw dropped and he said, "The Hitchhiker's Guide is a wiki! No wonder coverage is so uneven!"

Oh, dear--what have you

Oh, dear--what have you started, Dorothea? Now I will be sneaking into wikis, adding DON'T PANIC in large letters to the front page.

Guerrilla editingaside, this may just be a great way to think about wikis when introducing them to people. I'd love to figure out a way to create a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Library for first years. Or imagine a Hitchhiker's Guide to DSpace (or our own perplexing Institutional Repository which sometimes seems like an infinite improbability drive). Yes, there are always listservs, and it's gret for asking questions, but not for finding the answers months later. Hmmmm.

Anyway, with regard to DSpace, I'm a DSpace wrangler and sometime hacker myself. Feel free to get in touch. Also, I just started a website for institutional repository managers, including web forum, mailing list, and (brief) blog. Check it out!
