LibraryThing in the NY Times

Hi all,
This is probably old news for my news-savvy, tech-savvy colleagues in this course, but in case anyone missed it, social networking and libraries got a boost in no less than the Sunday NY Times yesterday. Was it the Styles section or Business, i don't remember...but it put in a thumbs up for Library Thing software and talked about the community of users it has created. I've been wanting to catalog my own collection for ages. ...Once again, just a trend follower, not the trend setter....

LibraryThing is becoming
LibraryThing is becoming more and more useful to libraries--going beyond using widgets to put lists of new books on your library web pages as in my screencast or for personal use or even a small library catalog. They are working on establishing a tag consortium for library OPAC's and a tagging widget that libraries can install into their OPAC's. You can read about this in a Library Journal interview (Chief Thingamabrarian) with LibraryThing founder Tim Spalding or more recently in the archives of the NGC4LIB listserv (username and password required).
