I know I'm a little late, but my chat group on Monday asked me to post some research studies and scholarly papers on tagging, and I'm quite happy to oblige. So, for your reading pleasure my friends:
- Cooperative Classification and Communication Through Shared Metadata by Adam Mathes
- The Structure of Collaborative Tagging Systems by Scott Golder and Bernardo Huberman
- Investigating Social Tagging in Art Museums with steve.museum by Jennifer Trant and Bruce Wyman
- Folksonomies: Tidying Up Tags? by Emma Tonkin and Marieke Guy - this one got
- Social Analysis of Tagging
- Pew Research did a study on the use of tagging recently.
- Showing Broad and Narrow Folksonomies by Thomas Vander Wal
- When tags work and when they don't: Amazon and LibraryThing by Tim Spalding
There are some great articles in there. Something to come back to when the class is over and things aren't SO crazy.

Meredith, I'm very interested in tagging and posed a question in last week's blog posting, wondering if anyone had any info on user studies. Thank you so much for this list - I will definitely be using it!
