wikis

This the first time I have every thought of reading a wiki for anything other than an encyclopedia entry. I liked the wiki for Library's Best Practices. It has many tutorials to help with everything from collection development to book talks and YA programming. I was very informative. One question that I will ask tomorrow night when we have our chat is how can you be sure that the information on a wiki is current or correct informaiton when anyone can edit it?

You ask the same questions

You ask the same questions you would of any other website. Who owns it? Who actually can edit it? (Not all wikis are world-editable. In fact, I would say that most aren't.) Who maintains it? Are there editing guidelines or other policies somewhere?

Look at a few history pages, see who turns up repeatedly. Are they editing responsibly? Are there a lot of edit wars? Look at the "recent changes" page for the wiki. How often is it changed? (If the last change listed was a year ago... the conclusion is pretty clear.)
