Comparing aggregators

I've been thinking about live bookmarks ever since upgrading to the new Firefox--but I'm wondering if they compare to what I'm getting from Bloglines (from what I've seen of Google reader, it's a googley-looking Bloglines).

Is anyone an avid live bookmark user? Or hater? I have my own list of reasons for going or staying, but I'd like to hear others.

I used to be an avid live

I used to be an avid live bookmarker...but switched to Bloglines because it seemed to have more of what I want and they keep getting all these swanky new features and I like the notifier plus I did not like the new articles showing up under bookmarks. Course I love Firefox, don't get me wrong. In addition I took up tagging with de.licio.us partly because I was sick of having to rebuild valuable work at the Ref Desk computer and partly because I got addicted to the tagging fun. Having it all tagged and virtual AND able to share with the other Ref Desks at our other branches is like a major coup de gras for us :)

Live Bookmarks are a feature

Live Bookmarks are a feature of the Firefox browser. (There may be a similar Internet Explorer function, but I don't use IE so I don't know.) Essentially, it's an in-browser newsfeed aggregator/feedreader. I found a quick tutorial for Firefox users to check out.

I think there's a Firefox plugin somewhere that allows Live Bookmarks to be synced across computers -- that's the major reason I don't use them; I need to get at my feeds both at work and home.

Dorothea, you might want to

Dorothea, you might want to take another look at Live bookmarks. You can now coordinate live bookmarks with the del.icio.us extension, making for easy access to RSS feeds from many computers.

The only issue is if you had stuff you didn't want everyone else to see and forgot to click "do not share."

Of course, bloglines works just fine too.

I was an avid live

I was an avid live bookmarker for a while... then the world of my feeds got really big really fast. I guess that's what happens. You start with a few, which lead to a few more, which start you on a slippery slope! :)
Anyway, maybe it's just me, but as the number of feeds grew, I found that they were easier to manage using Bloglines. Plus I can access them from anywhere, and I like the Bloglines features in terms of easily sharing posts with friends and colleagues. But my husband still uses live bookmarks... so maybe it's just a matter of personal preference.
