Best Blogging Gouge...

Wow! All this great information to blog about...hee hee :)

After this week I have determined, through fellow classmates and instructors...the following about blogs:

1. Don't be afraid to start one. Take the time to play with a few models and dive in. Do be careful about what you write. If you wouldn't say it out loud, what are you blogging about it for? Remember it is a virtual representation of you and your library/business. Be PROFESSIONAL.

2. Think about your audience and the platform best suited. It's like a good reference question and how you tackle the solving of it. Who u want to reach, why, how and for what reasons. We use blogger, it's a great start-up, but would eventually like to use Wordpress and host our own. Being in full control of the blog as a library system is a good thing.

3. Don't wrap yourself up in how much you write, but what you do write. Substance is key. Nobody wants to read long-winded who-ha. Make it sweet, to the point and fun. In addition, don't set unreasonable goals about how much you post. Try for once a week, whatever time suits and make it fun.

4. Have fun with the framework...explore other blogs, get some great widgets and ideas... incorporate them...play around with it until it becomes like riding a bike.

5. Keep reading other blogs and share share share like it's Third grade....after all we had fun then too AND we remembered to push in our chairs :) You can win those resistant colleagues over by including them in the process, asking their ideas, making them guest authors. Everyone can claim it and name it. Then you got 'em.

6. Leave 'em laughing. Be original. Play. Invite silly but with the overall purpose of informing, educating, sharing. Throw some fish dang it!
